SFPE San Diego December Meeting – Cancelled

SFPE SD membership,

I wish to inform you that we will not be having a December meeting. With all of our busy schedules and the board has been focused on our own SFPE Golf Tournament for this year we decided that it would be best to cancel this months meeting.

We have some pretty exciting meetings and events for the new year. First, we are putting on our own golf tournament and we need your help. If you are interested in being a sponsor or golfing with us, please let one of the board members know. You can also visit our Golf Tournament tab on our website for more information.  We plan on hosting a joint meeting with the San Diego Fire Protection Association as well in the spring. Lastly, we are looking at presenting to students at either UCSD or SDSU to educate them about the field of Fire Protection Engineering.

Our next meeting going will be January 11th.

Also, if you haven’t paid your dues for this year yet, please do so by going to the becoming a member tab on the website. Additionally, we are still looking for chapter sponsors so we can continue to put on these great events.

Wishing you all a great and safe holidays.

2017-2018 SFPE San Diego Chapter President Update

Dear Chapter Members and Sponsors,

I would like to welcome you to the San Diego and Imperial County Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). We are individuals in Southern California joined together using engineering, math, and science to protect people and property from fire and its effects in the built environment.

We begin the 2017-2018 year for our Chapter on the continued stride for excellence. As a Chapter we were recognized for Gold from the SFPE Board of Directors Award for Excellence. We strive for excellence, keeping our members involved, up to date on industry standards, and expanding our ever growing network of fire protection engineers/designers/AHJs in San Diego. In addition to keeping our members at the fore front of fire protection, we also are actively engaged with the increasing the awareness and need for fire protection engineers and fire safety in the built environment.

We hold monthly meetings as a means to exchange new and exciting information in the field of fire protection. Topics can include updates to building and fire codes, new technology, changes and trends, research projects, fire modeling, and many more. If there is a topic that you wish to learn more about this year, please email the board at [email protected]. Yearly, we hold a charity golf tournament to benefit the San Diego Burn Foundation. We also work with the Cal Poly SFPE Student Chapter.

Please join us! We invite designers, engineers, installers, governing officials, and any other individuals in the field of fire protection or fire safety to join our Chapter to further expand your network and knowledge.

Please explore our website, as it includes upcoming meetings, chapter officers and members, sponsorship information, golf tournaments, and job postings.

All the best,

Derek Duval, SFPE President
